The Tikka Choker

Handmade, one of a kind metallic lace choker
with smokey quartz, tourmaline and gold filled wire
Simple snap clasp

Measures approximately 18 inches long.

Handmade in Toronto, Canada

Inspired by the poem 86,400
by Tikka Smiley (b. 1974)

The incessant ticking of the second hand
An unrelenting alibi
Each progression of the slender bar
brings me closer to my fate
The hands of time like spindly claws
teasing as the time draws nigh
Unable to break it's grip
Inevitability never waits

The chimes ring out the midnight hour
Another day begins
86,400 seconds hold my future
in their grasp
Mercilessly marching, expressionless
Whether I lose or win
Entwining fingers 'round my neck
like an insufflating clasp
